Our goal is to provide students with the knowledge, skills, and virtues to reach their full potential as responsible, productive citizens in a changing and diverse world.
A Little About Long Creek
Geographically speaking, Long Creek, Oregon is located in Grant County; 90 miles south of Pendleton and approximately 40 miles north of John Day on Hwy. 395. It is in a small valley nestled at the base of Long Creek Mountain. The community boasts of a population of approximately 200 residents.
The main source of employment for individuals living in this area is farming and/or ranching. Some residents are employed by government agencies such as the Department of Transportation or the public education system. Other residents have their own small businesses and a small amount of logging still takes place in the area as well.
The Long Creek School has approximately 40 students in grades K through 12. Our student population is primarily white with a small percentage of students from other races. We also host five foreign exchange students each year from all parts of the world and recently have had students who attend on a VISA to complete high school and graduate in the United States.
The entire student body is housed in one building which includes two computer labs, a library, and a cafeteria. Other buildings host a gymnasium, a weight training room, a vocational shop, and a multi-purpose room. The facility is well maintained and provides a comfortable positive learning environment.
The Long Creek School is staffed with a superintendent/principal, four and one half certified staff members, and five classified employees.
