Lloydene Thomas

Hi, Iím Lloydene Thomas;  I married, Bill Thomas my high school sweetheart 34 years ago. We have 3 children, Simmie, Shanna and Toby. All three of our children have graduated from Grant Union High School. Grant County is a great place to raise children and receive a great education.  We have 8 beautiful grandchildren, Trinity is 11 and in the 6th grade. Riddick is 7 years old and in 2nd grade. Addy is 6 and is in Kindergarten at Humbolt, Emmalyn is 4 and Jerett is 3 and excited about preschool, Hunter is 2 years old, Tate is 16 months and our newest grandson, Clive is 3 months old.

I started working for Grant School District #3 in 1991. I worked at all the different schools in different positions. My favorite position was working in Special Education with special needs children.  In August 1992 I started full time in the Special Education Department at Humbolt Elementary. I moved over to Grant Union High School in 1998. Through the vision of Betty Jones, our Special Education Department built a 20X48 Greenhouse.

I oversee the ordering, planting and sales at Grant Union Greenhouse. We plant seeds in February.  In March we transplant the seedlings and plant vegetables. We are open for sales the end of April and the month of May. The kids are very proud the tomatoes and other vegetables and flowers they grow. We are a little hidden this year behind the new modular buildings. We will have our sign out by the road when we are open. We thank you for supporting our program.

I find it very rewarding to work with students, helping them learn and watching them succeed.
