Grant County Fair and Rodeo

Come celebrate Grant County's heritage at the annual County Fair. Whether it's the animals, foods, needlework, art or any of the other exhibits, each plays a role in the county's history. The highlights of the fair include 4-H, FFA and open class exhibits, concerts, not to mention the carnival and Rodeo. Learn more at


SolWest is an occasion for learning, networking and supporting all types of renewable energy. The three-day event offers engaging activities for all ages and knowledge levels as participants form around the western region and beyond come and learn about energy efficiency, solar and wind energy, alternatively fueled vehicles, and more. Camp Logan Re-enactment

Camp Logan was a military post near present day Prairie City and was established in 1865 by the First Oregon Volunteers and then later occupied by the regular army. It remained until 1869. The historic site was located approximately 5 miles south of present day Prairie City. The annual reenactment is put on and sponsored by the Prairie City School History Club and 5th Grade Class. Come and enjoy a weekend at Camp Logan, including hands-on activities, food, and games, not to mention an amazing look into everyday life in the 20th Century. 3rd weekend in May. Learn more at

Cycle Oregon

Cycle Oregon is an annual bike ride/festival that occasionally passes through John Day. Cycle Oregon's mission is to support Oregon's small towns through rider fees that are distributed more than $1 million to communities and projects throughout Oregon. September 8th-15th. Learn more at

Seneca Oyster Feed

Every spring people come from all around the state to go to the Seneca Oyster Feed. Oysters are brought in by the truckload accompanied by many other types of food. There are softball games, horseshoe tournaments, and much more to be enjoyed in the small town of Seneca during the weekend of the Oyster Feed. May 19th.

Truckers Light Parade

Each year in December, people line the streets of John Day to see the annual Timber Truckers Light Parade. The highly lit and decorated trucks make for an exciting and interesting tradition in John Day. December 8th.

Strawberry Mt. Festival

The festival is an annual event showcasing local artist's works. Entertainment is provided with a wide variety of music. Raffles and drawings will be held for many door prizes and giveaways. Enjoy a summer's evening in historical downtown John Day, Oregon.
